Zoysia care calendar for zone 7

Mild winter, hot humid summer; the classic transition zone where neither cool- nor warm-season grasses are completely happy year-round. Bermuda, zoysia, fine fescue, tall fescue, and Kentucky bluegrass all grow but each has a stress season.

Zoysia is the premium warm-season grass: denser, more shade-tolerant, and more cold-hardy than bermuda, but slower to establish and slower to recover from damage. Zoysia japonica ('Meyer', 'Empire') extends into zone 6 (the only warm-season species that does), while Z.
