Bahia lawn care schedule

Bahia is a tough, drought-tolerant warm-season grass dominant on roadsides and unirrigated rural lawns through Florida and the Gulf Coast. Deep tap roots make it the most drought-tolerant lawn grass available, it green-ups again after months of brown, but the blades are wide and coarse, and the famous Y-shaped seed heads grow several inches a week so frequent mowing is mandatory. Argentine and Pensacola are the common cultivars.

Notes: Best for unirrigated lawns. Very low input but coarse texture and aggressive seedhead growth limit it to utility-grade lawns.
