Centipede lawn care schedule
Centipede is the "lazy lawn" of the Coastal Plain South: low-fertility, low-mow, slow-growing, light-green. It is the grass for the homeowner who wants a real lawn but does not want to fertilize four times a year. Sensitive to high pH (prefers acid soil, 5.0–5.5), low cold-tolerance (browns below 5°F), and prone to "centipede decline" when over-fertilized with nitrogen. In the right place, it is a low-input dream; in the wrong place, it disappears.

Notes: Lowest nitrogen requirement of warm-season grasses. Acidic soil preference is the single biggest divergence from other species.
